My indoor cat is learning fast to accept the pulling of the harness over his head (hardest part of process). once it's over his head, he's pretty calm about clipping the sides and making adjustments. I like having the two separate side clips to ensure even snug fit. Once I clip the leash on, he immediately heads for the door! He knows this is his 'outdoors' time! I recommend making sure you have a clear open area to take your cat, as they will dart under or around patio furniture, etc. if startled - and you don't want to get tangled. in the beginning, cats tend to freak-out if they hit the end of the leash hard. It's important to let them lead the way and keep a soft contact with them on the leash at all times. Good luck and have fun.ps. I have a collar with tag on my chipped cat. I do recommend that for going outdoors that you have a separate collar just in case they escape their harness (not likely to happen with this well-designed harness).. only put-on/removed while indoors to avoid escape.

This harness fits my cat perfectly. It has many adjustments as the cat grows. It is great quality I highly recommend it.

My tiny adult kitty, Mr. Gregory really could have used an Extra, Extra Small harness, if this, or any manufacturer made one. The adjustments around the neck and chest do fit, just barely on my kitty when adjusted down as far as it can go. But they easily work their way loose during a little activity. It's worthless to use the accompanying leash, because in just a few seconds, he'll back up and pull the entire harness off right over his head. The only easy solution that I can come up with is to put on some safety pins to keep the straps from pulling their way through the buckles.

Nice quality, soft, sizing seems ok, except weight of my cat is 16 lbs, and a small was what I purchased based on measurements ( 15.5-16 girth & 10.5 neck). It was plenty big. In fact, debated whether a small would be better ( but weight would be way off). He is really long and tall, so a little further back from front legs may have been better, but he seemed to move just fine in this one. The extra strap hangs down, but figured out I can fit them in the little loops on belly strap (look at bottom side of harness). Not sure what the purpose of those are, but worked for that ( might be in directions and I missed). Fitting is a pain. My cat is easy going and tolerant of me, and it's still a pain to get him to stay long enough to keep making all the adjustments ( he gets excited to go outside). Then making the adjustments snug enough at shoulders, makes it tight going on and off his head. He accepted harness well, and knew what we were doing- going out. He looked sharp in it. Refelective quality could see too. I have not done any formal training with him, but he was a foster fail almost 7 years ago ( had him since 6 weeks). He has lived with dogs, kids and lots of other foster animals, including a rabbit. So, he seems to roll with his crazy family :-)So, I like this harness, but sizing was debatable, fitting tricky, and here is the kicker-He got out of it ( I know- no harness seems to be full proof with a cat if want they out). Once that happened, he knew it was a possibility. So it happened again. He was supervised, 1st time on leash and I let him stay behind. So that was on me...and maybe if adjusted better, not sure. He doesn't bolt unless he thinks you won't take him outside with the dogs lol. So was not in danger. We were in our fenced backyard. Final decision-I am returning because it just isn't quite what works best for all of us. We want to take him camping, and if he can get out when he wants, in a wooded strange place, that would be bad. He is loved by his family. Back to the cat harness search :-( Oh, the leash was nice and worked fine. He responded and walked well on the matching leash. We do have a retractable leash just for him ( we do not use them for a dog, but tiny one works great with letting our cat explore). Hope this helps. My cat may not like wearing this harness, but she doesn't mind it. This feels like it would be more comfortable than her old one, plus harder for her to wiggle out of. Her old harness, she would almost get out of it before I could scoop her up. This one seems pretty secure and I have taken her out many times. I plan to buy another one for my other cat. He HATES going outside... but maybe it's because he is in the old harness
