1. Rinse the Flourite in a mesh bag or colander under running water to remove residual dust. 2. Fill the tank slowly and disperse water to minimize disturbing the Flourite bed, which can cause initial cloudiness. 3. For a 5 cm (2 inch) deep bed in a typical 40 l (10 gallon) tank, use 1 kg (2 lbs) of Flourite. 4. Do not use gravel modifiers such as laterite, as Flourite does not require them. 5. Flourite is not chemically coated or treated and will not alter the pH of the water. 6. Mechanical filtration or water clarifier like Clarity® can be used to remove initial cloudiness. 7. Flourite is good for the life of the aquarium and need not be replaced. 8. Can be mixed with other gravels, but best used as an integral substrate bed when at least half Flourite is used. 9. Slow water filling is recommended to avoid disturbing the substrate bed. 10. Regular filter cleaning or replacement is required, and the product can cause filter cartridges/floss to clog.
