Rhythm Music Lummi Sticks for Kids, 16 Pack Sticks with Carry Bag, 8 Inch

I needed to update my collection of sticks after years of chipping and misplacing sets. I've only had long skinny ones before so I was hesitant about the shape and size of these but they have quickly won me over! The rounded edges make them much safer for little hands. I'm not worried about my toddlers poking their eyes out. The length is great as well for the same reasons. I thought that by being shorter that the children wouldn't be able to reach the floor as well but that wasn't an issue. What I especially liked was that we can actually tap the end pieces together...adding another exercise in fine motor skills. I've only used these once so I can't speak to their durability but they seem incredibly sturdy. I haven't seen dents in them yet and they have got a good weight to them. We practiced tossing and catching them in the air which my three to five year olds were all able to do. I also appreciate that I don't have to worry about paint chipping. I'm coming back to buy another set because I love them so much!I took off one star for the bags. They aren't terrible. They are actually quite sturdy. There is something off about the size of them. They're almost too perfectly fit for the sticks. I wouldn't go as far to say that you have to squeeze to get them all back in but when you have to move quickly with a large group of kids it felt cumbersome to put them all back. I may look as dumping them all in a cheap tote for ease.

I bought these as I run Music class for a few different spec. ed classes. All the students love them and they are splinter free! They are nice and smooth and just the right size for my primaries!

I teach music at a special ed high school and my students can be incredibly rough on any hands-on instruments or manipulatives. I’ve had no issues with these and their durability! Additionally, my classroom is very small and I was worried about how loud the rhythm sticks would be… I saw a review on these stating the sound was more pleasant than larger, thinner rhythm sticks and they were correct! Much more bearable sound than I’ve experienced in the past.Due to their size and curved edges I trust my kids with these much more than I would with other brands. My kids are…. creative… with their use of hands-on items and I feel like these are safe to put in their hands without one ending up in a nose or used as a weapon to hit another student.
